As partners in education, WorldWideLearn and the American Library Association can create awareness about the importance of libraries and encourage library use and support. Libraries provide great resources for students, and students are our future leaders. Public libraries are important places for students of all ages to expand their interests, and knowledgeable staff who can help. Just under half of all households in the United States have no Internet access, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. This makes library computers critical for people from all socioeconomic backgrounds to discover education and career opportunities online. No matter their age, they can get hands-on computer training without the fear of being left behind because they don't have Internet access at home.
